Are you a sports fanatic in need of a trim? Like to get get the royal treatment not for the royal price? Then the perfect men’s salon/barber will soon be a short drive away from you! Sports Clips, a national men’s haircutting salon, will be opening their first location within the next two months in Duluth. The new salon will be located at 4504 Grand Avenue in the new retail center that was built this past year that currently houses an Erbert’s and Gerbert’s location along with a Napa Auto Parts store.
What makes this salon so different? There’s a whole list of things. If you enjoy sports, then this is the place for you. The salon features flat screen TVs displaying the latest games and sports news, along with sports graphics and sports memorabilia. The decor isn’t the only thing that sets this store apart, but also the entire haircutting process. It’s not just a haircut, rather it’s an experience. Guests not only receive a great hair cut, but also a shampooing, scalp massage, hot towel treatment, and a shoulder and neck message afterwards. It’s called the “MVP Experience.”
While we don’t have the official news on the store square footage, employee amount, or opening date, it can be confirmed that the store has started construction and should be completed within the next month to two months.
The chain currently has has over 900 locations and plans to open multiple stores within the area. While they may be the largest salon of it’s type in the country, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have their competition. Minnesota’s own Regis Corporation has begun rolling out it’s men’s salon/barber prototype called ProCuts. The new prototype has 12 locations, although there are other locations of the old prototype before Regis acquired the brand and updated it. Regis has been looking in the Duluth area for the past few months trying to find a suitable location for their newest ProCuts store. Currently they are in negotiations for their first location in Duluth and are exploring the market for other suitable locations. They hope to open they first location in the Miller Hill area by years end.
